Hillarys Craft Event in Brighton

I was invited to an craft event recently arranged by Hillarys and the Joe Blogs Network held in Taj’s Tea Parlour, a quaint venue with a vintage vibe in the heart of Brighton's Lanes.

The event was led by Kirsty of Make do and Trend, a Sussex based craft workshop specialist who had provided a couple of crafty bunting and bauble making activities for a crowd of Sussex bloggers to attempt with Hillarys fabrics.

Our first task was to create bunting with the provided pre-cut material, glue and rope, this is a really easy and effective way of making bunting fast.  I am bunting crazy and have made many buntings previously which adorn our house and garden periodically but this was by far the easiest with no sewing involved!

Tea and Christmas tree shaped biscuits were then served before we got onto the job of making an intricate bauble.  This proved to be a little challenging but we all got there in the end!

Thanks to Hillarys, Joe Blogs Blogger Network and Taj's Tea Parlour for hosting an enjoyable afternoon.

When I saw this toy Xylophone attached to Miss CCL's favourite comic, I grabbed it and snapped it for this week's photo project, she is so used to me whipping out my camera that she now takes photo's of everything from her toys to food!  A mini snapper in the making!

W is for .... The Alphabet Photo Project

I have taken thousands of photos of waves, I never tire of it.  Living by the sea there is a ready made canvas every day but this week W is for Water, H2O, this was taken this summer at a local park, these water fountains are scattered across an area and are great fun for the children on a hot summer's day!  They go off at random, this was in the toddler part so a little tame but the main ones rocket sky high and the squeals from the children who run through them are fantastic!

Brings back memories of another hot summer, missing you already summer!

V is for Vegetable this week on the Alphabet Photo Project, not many more to go now, time seems to run away from me at the moment with Miss CCL starting school and writing on my food blog et al.  I hope to get back to posting about the (slow) progress on our house once the alphabet gets to Z!

Vegetables feature highly in our diet and I'm always on a quest to find more ways to get Miss CCL to ingest more of those beautifully coloured, highly nutritious veggies!  I am amazed how ingenious you can be when challenged!

U is for .... The Alphabet Photo Project

Very simply this week is U for Undulating, to move with a smooth wave-like motion, to have a wavy form or outline.

I can never resist taking photos of the sea, I know I have thousands but it never gets tired for me.  I could sit and a look at a  scene like this every day, there is something so magical and soothing about the sounds and the motion of the sea.

T is for .... The Alphabet Photo Project

A few years ago I started collecting tea-cups and saucers, it wasn't something I decided to do, it just evolved once I found my first little set.

I now have some lovely examples of 1960's crockery, all in great condition.  I often wonder about the ladies who pre-owned these tea sets and feel a little sad that they have ended up in a jumble sale or charity shop and not passed on to future family generations.

We're huge fan of Tea here, I drink 4-6 mugs a day, ranging from builders to Earl Grey to herb teas.  I do love a spot of afternoon tea out too!

S is for.... The Alphabet Photo Project

There was such a choice of subjects for the letter S this week, we have Spiders everywhere making webs in our garden, apparently it's the mating season for them, I have some macro photos of Seeds and some of Shells from the beach, then there are the ever present Seagulls here by the Sea where we live!

But S is for Stained glass window this week.

These beautiful windows from St. Margarets Church in Rottingdean represent the three archangels, Gabriel, Michael and Raphael.  They were made by William Morris from the designs of the artist Sir Edward Burne-Jones.  The three east windows were erected in 1893 as a personal gift of the artist to commemorate the marriage of his daughter Margaret in the church.

R is for.... The Alphabet Photo Project

Very much looking forward to the day when we can take a dip at the local Lido again, it is one of the very few left in the country and plans are afoot to return it to its former splendor.

R is for Renovation - inside and out.
